BIBLE STUDY – FATHER’S DAY CELEBRATION WEEK

1. Who is a father?

1. “Mom is a seed carrier while Dad is a seed planter” Are fathers important? How and why? What are their dues? Who should acknowledge/honor fathers or pay their dues? How should fathers be acknowledged?

1. Is a father different from a mother? How and why? What do you have to say about the pregnant man? What are the implications of this media generated issue?

1. Why should a child be identified with the father? If not, what are the demerits?

1. Must a father necessarily have a father? If the father portrait fathers have come from God, our heavenly Father, what are expected of an earthly father? What are the implications of Jesus statement, “If you know me you have known my Father” (John14:7) and “Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me” (John14:10).

1. What are father’s roles in the family? What are the problems hindering these roles? How has these roles impacted the Church and society?

1. Why are some responsibilities of fathers shared with their wives? In what ways have these shared responsibilities helped the families? What are the demerits of not engaging in shared responsibilities?

1. Fathers are to preside over their families. How? What does it mean to preside over? What factors could distract men from this function?

1. What is the emerging challenges facing fathers/men in marriages and families today? What are the biblical solutions to these problems? Do we have individual experiences to share?

1. Why are fathers regarded as heads of families? Why did God provide authority in marriage? How has adherence/negligence of this provision help marriages/ families’ successes or failures?

1. Does God hold father’s responsible for family successes and failures? Why? Do mothers share in these responsibilities? In what ways could mothers and children help to sustain marriage success in the family?

1. What are the challenges African marriages faces in western culture? Many Africans marriages crumble in advance world. What are the causes and how can these be rescued?
