FULFILLING THE PURPOSE OF YOUR CREATION

The scripture recognizes God as the Creator of all living things and the Maker of the universe. It means He has a legal ownership over His creation and also a trade mark. God has a master plan and purpose/goals for His creation. To discuss the purpose/goals of human existence, we explore our origins. To attempt to answer to the question: how were we created and for what reason, we revisit our beginnings. Man is a revelation of God’s mysteries; this fact stands taller than every other opinion and hypothesizes. Every other scientific study ends up in leading us to this truth: A Supreme Being created the universe and that being is God. He is Almighty and has no beginning or end; from everlasting to everlasting, He is the same great God; Almighty, Abba Father, Alpha and Omega and El Shaddai. He created all through the invisible except woman He made from the finished work of man for His purpose not ours. Just like the Engineers and Technologist, they design objects to meet needs and satisfy human curiosities. No creature can tell its maker how to create it. God is the greatest Porter and He determines how and for what purpose He designs and fashions the clay. This being the case we have to go back to God, our origins for the purpose of our existence.

How was man created!

Man is the splendor of all creation. The scriptures say, God created man in His image and likeness ………in the image of God, He created Him; male and female He created them [Genesis 1:26-27]. King David also pondered aloud on God’s creation of mankind, “For you formed my inwards parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb…..for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are your works…. My frame was not hidden from you. When I was made in secret……and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed….” [Psalm 139:13-16]. Before man fell, “the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed [Genesis 2:25]. This was very glorious and splendid!

Can you imagine what it’s to be “naked and not ashamed? They were opened and transparent and had no hidden agenda; knew much of each other and had no intrigues or deceits. They were not afraid of each other and had nothing one did that the other didn’t know about. They knew they were one flesh, a companion and children of the same father. Today we have couples that are ashamed to be naked; have hidden plans and agenda. They live lonely together, afraid of each other and attempt to outsmart the other; do not bear each other burden or share in their joys. They live in competition and are partners [commercial term for two people doing business together and being individually responsible) and not companion. Others are same sex mates and not complementary as purposed by God. The reason they call it alternative lifestyle. It’s least to be compared with God’s perfect match.

The purpose/goal of creation:

In this discussion, we have to obtain, why God did:

1)      create man, male  and female [1vs.27]

2)      said everything that He had made was very good [vs. 31]

3)      formed man from the dust of the earth [2 vs. 7]

4)      put man in the Garden of Eden [2 vs. 15]

5) joined man to his wife and they shall become one flesh [2 vs. 24].

(1). In the world of unisex, male and female are seen as the same. However, from the beginning, God created male and female differently. This goes beyond physical appearances. “Both male and female reflect the image of God but in different ways. Our physical bodies are different but they are complementary. This is glorious. The male and female bodies fit together to become a whole person, when they become one.” God created us that way to fulfill His purpose. So let us celebrate daily our differences and be able to fulfill our purposes.  Rev. FR. Larry Richards in his book, BE A MAN wrote, “Men are not supposed to be like women and women are not suppose to be like men – we were created to be different. Some new theologies had risen trying to make men female and women males; instead of challenging men to be more masculine and women to be feminine” – what God created them to be.

I believe that if God had intended a man to be a woman, he wouldn’t have been born a man. So why would he want to turn himself into a woman? The scripture says, “For He formed my inward parts: He covered me in my mother’s womb…..my frame was not hidden from Him….. [Psalm 139:13-15]. Why anyone should want to recreate him into what God did not design him to be? Is he implying that God did not create him well? God is not an author of confusion and no man is an accident of creation. Mankind was created to fulfill a purpose. Even though male and female were made and existed in the invisible but on earth only man – Adam was visible at a time and named all created things as they appeared in twos. There was no helper comparable for man [Genesis 2 vs. 20], to enable him fulfill the purpose of God on earth. Yet before then, God created man in His image, in the image of God, created he him, male and female……. [Genesis 1:27]. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over…. every living thing that moves upon the earth [Genesis 1:28].

(2). It was not God’s intention that mankind multiply and increases through ‘binary fission,’ so God caused man – Adam into deep sleep and took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from Adam, He made into a woman and brought her to the man [Genesis 2:22]. Adam named her just like he did earlier on other things God created. It was after the creation of mankind, that God saw His works and for the first time He declared it was very good. The design and built up had satisfied and fulfilled His intentions. Little wonder the Psalmist describes mankind as “fearfully and wonderfully” made and concluded, marvelous are your works [Psalm 139:14]. This also justified the opinion Prophet Jeremiah expressed when he declared the mind of God, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you; says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” [Jeremiah 29:11]. Apostle James added “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning” [James 1:17].

Mankind is not an accident or a mistake of creation but perfect gift from God and He confirmed it by saying, it’s very good; that’s excellent and awesome! Man now has a companion [helpmate] that will help him fulfill the purpose of his creation – “be fruitful and multiply”…..the goal was for procreation and built intimacy with each other; thereby submitting to God’s purpose.

(3). Why did God formed man from the dust of the earth? It was to reveal to us our source – dust we are and dust we shall return [Genesis 3:19; Psalm 103:14; 104:29]. Dust could mean ashes and earth, ground, land, sand and nature.  The Bible says, “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul.” In Ecclesiastes 12:7, King Solomon says, “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was; and the Spirit shall return unto God who gave it.” Indeed, man is nothing but just dust and handbreadth.

(4). God created Adam and domiciled him in the Garden of Eden. Eden became the home of our first parents. He asked them to work it, dress it and keep it. The scripture says, “When the Lord God made the earth and heavens…..and there was no man to work the ground…..the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground…..Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the East, in Eden, and there He put the man He had formed [Genesis 2:4-8]. The providential care of God towards His creation is magnificent. He created the earth and made man to till the earth and built it; then a garden to house them and planted fruits of different kinds as food for man, and made for Adam a companion to comfort him and be his helpmate. Together they would fulfill God’s purpose of procreation; caring and beautifying the garden.

(5). “………Man shall leave his father and mother and join to his wife and they shall become one flesh [Genesis 2:24]. It’s wonderful and indeed amazing to see how systematic God’s plan was for man. A close perusal of Chapter two of Genesis reveals the steps God took to fulfill His purpose for man on earth:

First, He created heaven and earth [vs. 2].

Second, He created man to care and till the earth [vs. 7].

Third, He built a home in the East side, the Garden of Eden [vs. 8].

Fourth, He brought man into the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it [vs. 15].

He proposed a helpmate for a man [vs. 18] because all other creature had the opposite sex for the purpose of comfort and procreation but man had none [vs. 20]. God made a woman out of man and brought her to him.

(6). It was not good for man to be alone. They became one flesh [vs. 24]. The unity will bring forth intimacy between them, the same they share with God. God loved Adam and Eve unconditionally and expected the man to share the same love with his wife; such that the offspring’s of the union will partake in the love. God also instructs the woman to submit to her husband. With this plan, they shall maintain order and authority in marriage; enjoy harmony, companionship and mutual submission to God. To cement the union between a man and a woman [not same sex] God made them one. They were different and shall celebrate their differences because in that they shall fulfill their purpose of procreation; dominate and subdue the whole earth [Genesis 1:28]. He, Jehovah-Jireh made provision for their food [vs. 29-30]. It was this completion that God saw and said to His satisfaction it is very good.
