EVERYONE IS LOOKING FOR JESUS! [Mark 1:37]
Our world is in a mess because we have done wrong things and do not accept responsibilities. Rather we point accusing fingers on other people while we do the same thing. From the genesis of life mankind has failed in efforts to solve human problems. We look for answers in wrong quarters and address issues in a wrong way. The more we try to solve human problems the more elusive they become. We may call the problem every psychological name in the books but end up either aggravating it or suppressing it. The reason is that the problem is spiritual and God calls it sin. Of all worlds’ spiritual leaders, Jesus Christ alone came to save mankind of sin and delivered from demonic possession. Little wonder that everyone is looking for Jesus to help us out and solve the world moral issues. The world is looking for a leader; not one who demands respect but one who earns it. Not one who possesses many titles and chains of degrees but one who possesses knowledge, wisdom and understanding; of course common sense that is not common. Not one who is grounded in book knowledge alone but one with vision and experiential knowledge. Not one who is greedy and self centered but one who offers selfless service and has passion for the people. He teaches with authority and power and possesses the keys to God’s kingdom.
Jesus has the divine power to bind and loose; possesses revelation knowledge and has the divine authority to bring God’s kingdom on earth. As a matter of fact, He symbolizes God’s authority and kingdom on earth; that is why He could heal all kinds of diseases and drove out many demons [Mark 1:34]. Before then He left the synagogue with his disciples and headed to the home of Simon and Andrew. In that occasion Jesus exhibited His unique teaching skills and divine authority when He healed Simon’s mother-in law of fever attack [Mark 1:29-31]. The news of His uncommon power went far and wide and was greeted by many who beseeched Him in great numbers with the sick and demon possessed. That same evening, those who had witnessed and heard of His teaching skills that were accompanied with signs and wonders [healing power] brought in many who were sick of all kinds of diseases and demon attacked. Jesus healed many who were sick and cast out demons.
Long before it was daylight, early in the morning, Jesus left the house and went out of town to a secret place where He prayed. Jesus believed in the efficacy of prayers and understood that prayer is the key. Little surprised He wake up early to relate with His Father. Prayers are ways He obtained strength for earthly ministry and assignments. By then multitude of people went to look for Him. His disciples were constrained to search for Him until they found Him. They said to Him, “everyone is looking for you.” How about you; who are you looking for? Are you among those looking for Jesus? Why are you looking for Him? What are your motives? Are you looking for Jesus’ miracles or for a relationship with Him? If I may ask further: why were the multitudes looking for Jesus? Were they in love with Him and believed He is the son of God; the salvation of every mankind? Were they interested in becoming His followers and serve in His ministry? I guess not. I believe they were looking for the signs and wonders and neither knew Him personally nor believed in Him. It could also be that some were spiritually hungry and desired to be fed by His words of revelations for their souls and provides physical food for the body.
Today, the situation is still the same. Many people look for Jesus for what they desire to get from Him; because they desire His touch and healings. They want the authority and power in His words and impartations of His divine nature. Jesus even called people who have needs to come unto Him: those who are labored and are heavy laden and He promise to give them rest ……… [Matthew 11:28]. There is no doubt some people come to Jesus just to be part of the crowd and to find fault with His new way to life. The Pharisees and Sadducees simply knew Jesus as the son of a carpenter from Nazareth. They did not believe Him as God’s son and the Savior of the world. Yet the poor and less privileged, the masses looked for His healing power to help alleviate their sufferings, pains and sicknesses.
In our era and time many wise people seek Jesus Christ to worship and honor Him. Others look for Him to heal their diseases and cast out demons that possess them. Yet some look for His touch of change in their lives. He turns a sinner into a saint, a nobody into somebody and an ordinary person into extra ordinary person. Jesus is the Chief Physicians and a healer. Many of those who come to Him are outpatients. Others are in intensive care, while others have Psychiatric problems. Some women come for maternity and prenatal purposes. Yet others are moving corpse from mortuary wondering around, peradventure they could have another chance of intervention from God. No matter where and how you come, Jesus assures, whoever come to Me I shall not cast out. I’m the Way, truth and life. Jesus revealed to the Samarian woman, “I’m the living water,” whoever drinks Me, shall thirst no more [John 4:13-14]. Following His revelation to Apostle Paul, he said, “For in Him we live, and move and have our being” [Acts 17:28]. Come unto Him and He will give you Joy, rest and eternity.
