BRIEF BIODATA OF OUR DEPARTED BELOVED FATHER

BRIEF BIODATA OF OUR DEPARTED BELOVED FATHER MAZI MONDAY MATTHEW NWANGWU UCHE    Mazi Monday Matthew Nwangwu Uche, was born into the family of late Mazi Nwangwu Uche, in Ndi Uche Ezi-ukwu Amankwu village Arochukwu and late Mrs. Mgbokwo Nwaite of Ndi-Okah, Atani village Arochukwu, on March 17th 1940.  He was the only surviving son of his parents. At a very tender age, Late Mazi Nnana George Ogbonnaya [Dee Kapin] took him to Ikot Ekpene, where He lived in the household of late Mazi George Nnaekpe Ogbonnaya under the motherly care of Mrs. Grace Nnana Ogbonnaya [Oyidie Kapin].

He attended St. Anne’s, Roman Catholic Mission [RCM] School, Ifuho, Ikot-Ekpene from 1958 to 1964. After the completion of his primary school, he chose to join late Mazi Kapin in his trade on Palm oil and kernel. He underwent apprenticeship and was appointed a Store Officer in 1965. He held that position until 1967, when the Nigerian Civil War broke out and he returned to Aro Chukwu.

After the Civil war, Dee Monday traveled to Lagos to begin life again. He got a job with the Seven Up Bottling Company and worked for a couple of years.  In 1975, Dee Monday joined the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) now Power Holdings Company of Nigeria (PHCN) where he worked for thirty years (30 yrs). He was a dedicated and accomplished field worker with commendable achievements. For example:  On 13th of June 1980, NEPA commended him for the role he played in the speedy restoration of power supply to Ikoyi and Victoria Island in Lagos State when tornado swept through that area causing unprecedented damages to the distribution. In 2004, he voluntarily retired from PHCN where he served his father land.

In 1982, he married his loving wife Mrs. Ugo Comfort Uche in Ndi Ukpabi Ugbo village, and their marriage was blessed with seven children, namely: ………………… Papa Ezinne, was a great family man who loved his wife dearly and worked hard to provide for her needs and that of the family. He strived to raise his children in uprightness and fear of God. He was peace loving and a humble man of exemplary behavior not only to his family, but community and every one that came across him. Red Buttons opined, I don’t care how poor a man is, if he has family, he’s rich [Father’s day quote].

Dee Monday was devoted Christian of Roman Catholic faith. He found strength and confidence in his belief in God and love of Christ.  He hungered in knowing God and serving Him all his life. He gave his life totally to Jesus Christ and had implicit faith in Him alone. He was a member of the Catholic Men Organization (CMO) of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, CokerVillage in LagosState. He obtained the certificate of active participation and a bronze certificate of recognition towards the completion of the NewChurch building. He was a member of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement (CCRM).

Dee Moon rendered impeccable development service to the community. He was a member of Amankwu Family Meeting and also a staunch member of Nzuko Aro, Lagos branch. He believed in collective progress and development. Little wonder, Papa NEPA as he is fondly called lived a life of servant hood and humbly served humanity and his community, to its fullest.

Shockingly, on 27th of May 2009 Dee Moon passed on after a brief illness. Papa, “We live life once, if we plan it well, once is enough.” The entire life of our father Mazi MONDAY MATTHEW NWANGWU UCHE was a success story. Our consolation is that Mazi MONDAY MATTHEW NWANGWU UCHE, died in the Lord and now is in his mansion in heaven. The Bible says, “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on that they may rest from their labours; and their works follow them” [Revelations 14:13].

He was survived by numerous relations and close associates among whom are:   [ Children, in-laws, close relations, etc]
